I am always looking for ways to get away from the urge and temptation of sodas and sugary drinks. I came across this recipe when I was on one of my favorite blogs: Nutrition to Kitchen. I'm not gonna lie, I LOVE soda. Such a weakness of mine. But I am always reading how horrible it is for you and I just keep trying to stay away from it. There are 140 calories in one can of soda, all coming from the sugar in it. This equals 9 teaspoons of sugar. 9!!!! Insanity. So, here's a recipe for a flavored water that can at least spice up that average glass of yours...
Cucumber-Ginger Water
makes a pitcher
2 cups boiling water
1 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced in half lengthwise
1 whole cucumber, sliced thinly
Cold water
1. Place the ginger in the boiling water and steep over low heat for about 10 minutes. Pour the ginger and water into a large pitcher, and fill the rest with cold water. Place in the refrigerator until cool, then add in the cucumber slices. Chill until cold before serving.
